Of all the CO's I've had., there were 2 super super nice ones. Our family became pretty close to them. One would come sit-in on our family study and end up taking a nap on the couch, telling my dad, 'you got this.' I ran into him 15 years later at Bethel. He was sick with cancer and getting treatment at a NYC hospital. His wife and he still remembered me after all those years. I am guessing he's dead now.
The other nice one was just never harsh at all. He was always genuinely encouraging and he didn't spew WTS bullshit when offering 'encouragement.' His wife and he went through a lot of crap before going into the circuit work so I think he had a much more balanced and realistic viewpoint on life. I think that goes a long way. A lot of the newer CO's are guys who went to MTS school at a young age and then after a few years right into the circuit work. They have no idea what real life is like.
I've only met one CO who was a complete piece of shit asshole. He would constantly push his personal ideas as doctrine. As a kid in the 80's and 90's, my brother and I LOVED Star Wars. Toys, video games, the movies, everything. This CO noticed that and told my dad it was evil. My dad made us get rid of all our stuff. My dad just became an elder so I guess he figured he had to tow the company line. I even asked my dad if he really believed it was evil and demonic or if he was just doing what the CO said. He danced around the question so you know what he really thought. He couldn't admit he just did it because the CO said so. One time his wife was scheduled to go on a study with my mom but she broke the appt. because she had to get her hair done. My mom approached her about breaking the appointment. She replied, "I'm the CO's wife. I can do what I want." I hope they're dead now. Assholes.
